영어 논문 쓰는 방법 (3) Transition 문장 연결

문단안에서 문장과 문장을 또는 문단과 문단을 연결하는 단어를 transition 이라고 한다.

그것은 한 단어 일 수도 있고 어떤 문구 일 수 있다.

논문 작성에 있어서 idea를 연결할 때에 transition을 잘 사용하여야 하는데

항상 반복적인 단어, 문구만 사용하는 것 같은 느낌이 든다.

오늘은 그런 어려움을 극복하고자 약간의 예시 문구에 관한 포스팅하려고 한다.

아래 내용은 당연히 아는 것이지만~ 막상 쓰려고 하면 매번 같은 단어만 생각날 때 유용할 것 같다.

Meaning / Function	Example of sentence connectors
To sequence your ideas	first(ly), second(ly), next, then, after, this, last(ly), finally, accordingly, meanwhile, henceforth
To introduce an additional idea	also, furthermore, additionally, in addition, moreover, simiarly, likewise, as well as, besides, another, too
To introduce an opposite idea or contrast	in contrast, conversely, alternatively, yet, although, even though, nevertheless, notwithstanding, however, on the other hand, whereas, while, instead, otherwise
To add a similar idea	comparatively, coupled with, correspondingly, identically, likewise, similar to, together with, equally
To introduce an example or illustration	for example, such as, for instance, to demonstrate, namely, in particular, specifically
To indicate a consequence or result	consequently, accordingly, as a result, hence, subsequently, therefore, thus, thereupon, as a consequence, for this reason
To introduce a resatement or explanation	that is, in fact, indeed, namely, specifically, thus
To emphasise or clarify a point	even more, above all, indeed, more importantly, besides
To draw to a close or summarise	to conclude, as a final point, in brief, in conclusion, indeed, in short, in summary, finally, lastly

"And"는 relation을 보여주지 않기 때문에 사용하지 않는 것이 좋다.

"such as" + one type

(X) There are three types such as A, B and C

(O) ~ such as A.

A, B, C 를 모두 말하고 싶을 때에는 "such as" 보다 "Namely", "Specifically"를 사용하는 것이 더 낫다.
